Philly fun

March 27, 2007

We guarantee you’ll leave Capitolbeat 2007 full of great tips and story ideas and reinvigorated about the best beat there is: the statehouse. But it won’t be all work and no play. There’s tons to do in Philly while you’re there August 2-4!

*See the Liberty Bell or check out the actual Watergate break-in tools, which are housed at the excellent National Constitution Center. Don’t forget the amazing King Tut exhibit, which will be at the Franklin Institute while we are in town.

*Sample the famous Philly Cheesesteaks from rivals Pat’s and Geno’s or try to eat your way through the glorious Reading Terminal Market . You can even try the food at Iron Chef Morimoto’s eponymous restaurant, Morimoto.

*There’s tons of great nightlife as well. Try the wide range of funky martinis at The Continental, explore eclectic South Street, or check out a wide range of live music venues.

*If shopping is more your thing, bring an extra suitcase. Philly has tons of big-name stores and funky boutiques, and offers tax-free shopping on clothing and shoes. See you there!
