Mark your calendars

November 17, 2008

For all you Statehouse scribes who couldn’t make it to Raleigh, N.C., last weekend, I’m pleased to announce that Capitolbeat’s 2009 conference will be Aug. 20-23 in Indianapolis.

So if you’ve been kicking yourself about missing out on a presidential swing state synonymous with basketball and motorsports, you’re in luck.

We’ll be celebrating Capitolbeat’s 10th anniversary at the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis, just across the street from the Statehouse and a short stroll from plenty of great bars and restaurants. Rooms are $135 night.

The conference starts Thursday, Aug. 20, which is also the 176th birthday of Benjamin Harrison, if you get to Indy a little early and want to stop by his old crib for a free slice of cake.

IndyFringe 2009 starts that Friday, if you’re looking for some alternative theatre after dinner that night. The fest is on Mass Ave, a great cultural district less than a mile from our hotel.

Of course, the main attraction will be a Capitobeat conference packed with captivating speakers and panel sessions designed to engage, enlighten and equip everyone from Statehouse reporting rookies to grizzled vets.

Drop me a line if there’s something you’d like to see at the conference, or if you’re willing to lend a hand.
