Conference update

April 21, 2009

Our 2009 conference in Indianapolis is just four months away, and we would like your help in finalizing a schedule of great panel sessions.

We plan to offer a technology track that has something for everyone from uber-techies to Twitter virgins. If there’s something you’d like to see in a tech session, please hit us back on the listserv, or e-mail the conference committee:

With the sour economy putting tremendous pressure on state budgets, we’re also planning sessions on tracking the flow of stimulus federal stimulus dollars, asset privatization, and the downturn’s impact on the cash cow that is legalized gambling.

We’re also formulating a couple health care panels and would appreciate your help in finding our focus.

But most of all, with no stimulus cash headed our way, we need to ensure a successful conference by starting our registration push. The 2009 conference will run from Thursday, Aug. 20 through Saturday Aug. 22 at the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis.

We were able to lock in a very reasonable conference room rate of $135 a night. For reservations call (888) 421-1442 or click here.

Knowing times are tough, we’re offering a $125 discounted conference registration rate for Capitolbeat members through the end of June.

Register here.

We’re also in the process of putting together a scholarship budget to help make the conference as affordable as possible. More on that soon.
